The First Americans Museum (FAM) opened in September 2021 to honor Oklahoma’s 39 Tribal Nations and, according to the mission statement, to “serve as a dynamic center promoting awareness and educating the broader public about the unique cultures, diversity, history, history, contributions, and resilience of the First American Nations in Oklahoma today.”

To aid in the efficient removal of stormwater run-off, Eric’sons Inc. manufactured 686 linear-feet of Dura Trench and TrueRadius™ curved trench drains for this significant museum campus.

Approaching the buildings from the parking lot, a bus-friendly driveway encircles a welcoming courtyard. Flanking either side of the courtyard, our 4-inch TrueRadius™ trench drain system has been installed to capture and safely remove the run-off water.

This traffic-rated TrueRadius™ system combines several components that were all individually manufactured according to the customer’s specifications, then assembled at our factory:

  •  8-foot length curved GFRPC trench body channel with factory-attached endcaps, overlap bell, and receiving flange
  • 4-inch x 24-inch catch basin with a 6-inch schedule HDPE bottom-outlet stub
  • Beginning invert (depth) 7.1-inches sloping .5% to an ending invert (depth) 15.1-inches
  • Heavy-duty T-304 curved stainless-steel frame with welded rebar and concrete anchors
  • Temporary plywood covers to protect the channel and aid in the installation during construction

After construction ended on the job site, the temporary plywood covers were removed from the TrueRadius™ system and replaced with ADA-compliant and heel-proof stainless-steel grates.

Approaching the impressive steel and glass structure called Hall of the People, more of our 5-inch TrueRadius™ stainless steel trench drains separate the concrete sidewalk from the stone and paver entry-walkway.

The placement of this TrueRadius™ system ensures that excess water is safely removed from the walkway and instead of allowing it to continue down to the circular driveway.

On the opposite side of the Hall of the People, several runs totaling 524 linear-feet of our Dura Trench 10-inch trench drain system was installed.

As with the TrueRadius™ system installed on the front side of the campus, this system was manufactured according to the customer’s specifications, then assembled at our factory:

  • 10-foot length GFRPC trench body channel with factory-attached endcaps, overlap bell and receiving flange
  • 12-inch & 15-inch HDPE side-outlet stubs are located precisely as specified by the customer
  • Beginning invert (depth) 18-inches sloping .5% to an ending invert of 42.5-inches
  • 10-foot length black powder-coated frame with welded rebar and concrete anchors
  • Temporary plywood covers to protect the channel and aid in the installation during construction

Because of the high-visibility location of the trench drain, the customer wanted to camouflage the system. To achieve this, they placed lightweight lava rock on top of fiberglass mesh grates. The result is a completely invisible drainage system.
